UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
President: Annina Vaisanen (IBSH)
Dep. President: Esther Duann (PAS)
Greetings! My name is Annina Vaisanen, a junior at the International Bilingual School at Hsinchu Science Park, and it is my utmost honor to be serving as your UNDP President for HSINMUN XVI. Having attended my first MUN conference over three years ago, I recall being instantly captivated by the staggering levels of diplomacy and cooperation which MUN embodies. Since then, MUN has played a focal role in my personal growth and has fostered my passion in advocating for human rights, concurrently opening my eyes to the manifold pressing issues we face as a global community. I hope that all those attending HSINMUN XVI can take it as an opportunity to gain further insight on global issues, cultivate an objective outlook toward the world, and develop confidence in public speaking. Aside from MUN, I enjoy singing, cheerleading, true crime, and all things related to medicine and biology. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and I sincerely look forward to meeting you all this October!
Hi delegates! I’m Esther Duann, a sophomore at Pacific American School (PAS), and it is my honor to serve as your deputy chair of the United Nations Development Programme for HSINMUN XVI. When I participated in MUN conferences for the first time, I was fascinated to see delegates collaborate with each other and debate complicated topics that seem impossible for us, who were only 8th graders at the time, to understand. With a seemingly ordinary weekend of intense debates and erudite conversations, I was drawn into the world of model UN and realized that I yearned for something greater. As I furthered my pursuit of this path, my interest in the different dynamics of global issues grew and was ingrained into me. This year, I’m extremely excited to take part in UNDP, as it has a unique procedure which targets is to facilitate debates procedure that is similar to those of the actual United Nations. Aside from MUN, my hobbies include watching Youtube, traveling, and listening to music. I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to seeing you guys in October!
