Hello ICJ participants! My name is Angel Weng, and I am a current senior studying at American School in Taichung. I began my MUN career back in seventh grade as a timid delegate. I was terrified of the aggressive nature of committee debates. However, after boosting my confidence and gaining experience, MUN blossomed into a profound passion of mine that played a significant part in shaping who I am today. HSINMUN XX marks my 18th conference and fourth time in the ICJ.

Unlike other committees, the ICJ offers a quick-paced and intense experience to participants who look to approach MUN conferences at the next level. Regardless of what role you are, one can take away so much from one experience in court. As a judge, you learn how to ask quality questions. You are challenged to make quick yet accurate decisions based upon factual evidence offered to you. As an advocate, you are constantly on your toes, ready to defend and attack comments and statements thrown at you. Your research abilities, quick-witted thinking, and communication skills are all put to the test. Indeed, the ICJ is an interesting committee unlike the rest.

Aside from attending MUN conferences, I spend my leisure time either catching up with sleep or training in the swimming pool. I also enjoy reading, hanging out with friends, and traveling. With that said, Joseph and I look forward to meeting you in October!

Hello HSINMUN XX delegates!

My name is Joseph Lin, a junior at Hsinchu County American School, and I’m honored to serve  as your ICJ deputy president. HSINMUN XX will mark my 16th conference and 3rd time chairing. I began my MUN journey in 7th grade, being nothing more than a rookie overwhelmed by position papers, draft resolutions, and speeches. Despite the initial setback, I’m grateful for MUN because it has taught me about politics, history, geography, and given me the courage to share my vision with others.

The International Court of Justice, arguably the most interesting of all committees (attested by myself), requires hard work and great passion to succeed and maintain international orders. As your deputy chair, I am excited to see you hone your skills and shape future international relations via this conference! And to all ICJ advocates and judges, I am very excited to meet you in person, and I hope you will have a fun and rewarding experience at HSINMUN XX!
